State officials said about 600,000 Massachusetts residents are now
eligible for a
Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.
- The shots will be available at
more than 450 retail pharmacies.
- The booster is available
to people who finished their first two Pfizer shots more than 6 months ago
and who are 65 and older, or are 18 to 64 with certain underlying
conditions, or are at risk because of their jobs or the institution they
live in (such as a jail or homeless shelter).
(Too much booster
news to follow? This story from my colleague Martin Finucane explains how we got here).
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told
CBS’s “Face the Nation" that she understands there confusion over who can
get a third shot.
“We are evaluating this science in real time," she said. "We are
meeting every several weeks now to evaluate the science. The science may very
well show that the rest of the population needs to be boosted and we will
provide those guidances as soon as we have the science to inform them.”
