773,981 people receive fee-for-service Medicare in Maryland

The state, in partnership with the CMS Innovation Center, is expanding its all-payer model to include outpatient services, making it the first state to be held fully at risk for the total cost of its Medicare beneficiaries. CMS expects this model to save $1 billion over a five-year period starting in January 2019.
