Surprise Bills Often Hit in Emergencies
While
policymakers debate solutions and ultimate accountability for surprise
medical bills for out-of-network care, Drew Altman's column previews new data highlighting that people with
critical health issues are especially vulnerable to these bills. “It’s hard
to imagine many patients who are so prepared and insurance-savvy that they

attack,” he writes.
Filling the need for trusted
information on national health issues, the Kaiser Family Foundation is a nonprofit
organization based in San Francisco, California.
