Today, the Centers
for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated the Medicaid &
Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) External Quality Review (EQR)
tables and figures with new data for the 2018-2019 reporting cycle. This
data plays an important role in providing transparency on the quality of
Medicaid and CHIP managed care which in turn encourages greater
accountability.
There are tables and
figures that summarize the findings from 37 states that submitted EQR
technical reports by April 30, 2020. The tables are broadly classified in 4
categories:
- Administrative: Tables 1 – 2
- These tables provide a list of EQR
Organizations and a count of Managed Care Entity types
- Performance Measurement: Tables
3 – 4 and Figure 1
- These two tables provide an overview of
performance measure reporting and alignment with core set reporting
- Performance Improvement
Projects: Tables 5 – 11 and Figure 2
- These tables provide counts by topic and
state for Performance Improvement Projects
- Detailed Performance Improvement
Project: Tables 12 – 15
- These tables look at the interventions
(where available) and validation scores (where available) for key topical
areas
The tables and
figures can be found at the following link: https://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/quality-of-care/medicaid-managed-care/quality-of-care-external-quality-review/index.html
