Trump halts relief talks, calls for stand-alone bills
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he had instructed
administration negotiators to halt bipartisan talks with Democrats on a
pandemic relief package until after the election. Hours after the announcement,
Trump urged lawmakers to pass stand-alone relief measures, including one that
would give $1,200 stimulus checks to many Americans and funding for the airline
industry and small business loans.
