Vietnam War Veterans Day 2021

State Proclamation signed by Governor Ricketts recognizing March 29 as Vietnam War Veterans Day. The proclamation remembers the thousands of brave Americans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. It also honors the 1,585 Americans, including 16 Nebraskans, who are still missing and unaccounted for, and the 58,220 Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice, 296 of whom were Nebraskans.

March 29th is observed annually as Vietnam War Veterans’ Day. It’s a day to honor the brave men and women who served in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam Era, and remember those who are missing and still unaccounted for, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Governor Ricketts signed a proclamation declaring March 29th, 2021 as Vietnam War Veterans Day in Nebraska. The Governor also released a video to commemorate Vietnam War Veterans Day and thank Nebraska’s Vietnam War Era Veterans. You can watch the video below.

LB 387: Final Reading

LB 387 had its first round of debate on March 10, 2021. The bill advanced from General File on a 45-0 vote. It was placed on Select File on March 12, and on March 22, it advanced to Enrollment and Review for Engrossment. On March 23, LB 387 was placed on Final Reading. It will be read in full and voted on one last time before heading to the Governor’s office to be signed.

State Veterans Home System Celebrates 134 Years

On March 4, 1887 LB 247 was passed which created a Soldiers’ Home in the State of Nebraska to provide care for the state’s Civil War Veterans. In celebration of the 134th anniversary, the Central Nebraska Veterans’ Home set up a special display featuring photographs of some of the original buildings of the home.
