Study: Long work hours after MI increase heart risks
Patients who returned to work after a myocardial infarction and
worked more than 55 hours per week had a twofold greater risk of a recurrent
coronary heart disease event, compared with those who worked 35 to 40 hours
weekly, researchers reported in the Journal of the American College of
Cardiology. "To reduce the risk of coronary heart disease recurrence,
secondary prevention interventions aimed at reducing the number of working
hours should be evaluated in future studies," said researcher Xavier
Trudel.
