Survey shows uptick in advanced-stage cancers
Sixty-six percent of 117 US radiation oncologists polled said
they are seeing an increase in new patients who have advanced-stage cancers,
while 73% reported that physicians have noted that many patients are not
being regularly screened for cancer, according to a survey by the American
Society for Radiation Oncology. "Because the pandemic and cancer cause
disproportionately more harm for Black and other medically underserved
populations, these rates may be even higher for some vulnerable
