The pandemic, for most of
us, was a forced change of pace. And as life starts speeding up again, many workers are itching for something new.
According to a survey by employment firm Robert Half conducted this
spring, almost a third of Boston-area workers say they plan to look for a new
job in the next several months, a proportion that was about the same as the
national average. And according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, almost 4
million people across the country quit jobs in April alone.
“During the pandemic, lots of people experienced mild or major forms of trauma
and lots of uncertainty about their life," said Anthony Klotz, a
Texas A&M University associate professor of management, who is calling the trend "the great
resignation." 'Lots of people were having revelations
about how they wanted to spend their time."
