A new study from the National Institutes of Health has found that the coronavirus may have been in Massachusetts as early as December 2019, two months before the first case was confirmed in the state on Feb. 1, 2020. "This study allows us to uncover more information about the beginning of the U.S. epidemic and highlights the real-world value of longitudinal research in understanding dynamics of emerging diseases like COVID-19," Dr. Josh Denny, an author of the study, said in a statement.
