Pandemic said to have 'greatly exacerbated' the opioid crisis

About 93,000 people died in the United States from overdoses last year, a record-high that grew from 72,000 deaths the year before, according to new figures released today by the US government. Though the country was facing a drug crisis long before the pandemic, Brown University public health researcher Brandon Marshall said "COVID has greatly exacerbated the crisis."
