VA/SAMHSA Governor’s Challenge Policy Academy |
|||
On June 7-9, VA and SAMHSA hosted a policy academy for their
Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Service Members, Veterans, and
their Families. The team from Nebraska heard from experts and leaders in
mental health, veterans issues, suicide prevention, and more; participated in
various work sessions to develop strategies for preventing suicide in our
state; and shared their work in a report out (pictured above) to the other
states and territories involved this year - Alaska, American Samoa, Hawaii,
Iowa, New Mexico, and North Dakota. |

Veterans Claims Clinic July 12-13 |
|||
The Veterans Benefits Administration Lincoln VA Regional Office
will be hosting a Veterans Claims Clinic in Holdrege, Nebraska on July 12 and
13. Discharging servicemembers, veterans, their families and survivors will
be able to file disability claims, submit evidence, speak with a claims
processor or healthcare representative and in some cases have a VA medical
exam completed all in one day. Representatives from the Nebraska Department
of Veterans’ Affairs and other Service Organizations will be assisting with
applications and benefit questions. If you have any questions about the
Claims Clinic, you can contact your County Veteran Service Officer or the State Service Office. |

Nebraska’s veterans’ homes provide top-of-the-line domiciliary,
intermediate, and skilled nursing care for the men and women who have served
our country, as well as eligible family members. Our four homes, located in
Bellevue, Norfolk, Kearney, and Scottsbluff, have a variety of recreational
activities for members to enjoy, such as game rooms and hobby and craft
