Innovative care systems needed in safety-net
hospitals
Investment in innovative care delivery is needed for underfunded
US safety-net health systems, which provide a disproportionate level of care to
low-income communities of color most affected by COVID-19, write Dr. Urmimala
Sarkar and Dr. Alice Hm Chen, both professors at the University of California
at San Francisco and physicians at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital's
Richard H. Fine People's Clinic. Health information technology must meet the
needs of diverse patient populations, and health care workers must be prepared
to integrate health IT in daily operations, they write.
