Despite incentives to get
vaccinated, including a chance to win a million-dollar lottery, the Boston neighborhood of Mattapan has the fewest
vaccinated residents in the city, with only 37 percent of people
fully vaccinated. Citywide, more than 57 percent of people are fully immunized.
Community leaders, in partnership with the city, have offered walk-in and
at-home vaccinations, educational town halls, and more to try to encourage
people to get their shots. But some worry it's not working. "We have a
mixed population that is very diverse … and people have some
misconceptions," said Fatima Ali-Salaam, chair of the Greater Mattapan
Neighborhood Council.
