It happens more than you think

Help someone take their medication home!

Prescription abandonment happens a lot more than most of us realize:

  • 4 out of 10 people will abandon their prescription if the co-pay is $125 or more.
  • 1 in 3 people have actually left a prescription at the pharmacy.
  • That translates into nearly $300 billion (yes, you read that right!) in avoidable healthcare costs each year.
  • Even worse, it could mean as many as 125,000 potentially avoidable deaths each year.

I think that’s heartbreaking—especially the “avoidable” part. While the out-of-pocket price of some medication co-pays is too high for many Americans, the price of not taking them is even higher.

Your support of PAN grants helps people avoid the consequences of not taking their medications as prescribed—loss of health, time with family, and happiness. Will you give today to help someone take their prescription home?

Visit our “pharmacy shelf” to hear from PAN grant recipients who were able to pick up their medications thanks to caring friends like you. While you’re there, “unlock” more prescriptions by making a gift of any amount!
