It’s actually time to start preparing for spring

You may think of February as still being deep in the throes of winter, but many medical experts say it’s actually time to start preparing for spring — spring allergies, that is. One of the best ways to prevent the sniffles and itchy eyes that often come along with springtime blooms and tree pollen is pre-medicating. Allergist and immunologist Dr. Michelle Pham recommends starting corticosteroid sprays, like Flonase, four weeks before allergy season begins in your area, and oral antihistamines, like Claritin or Zyrtec, two weeks before. “It’s hard to be motivated when you feel well,” she told Today. “But the whole idea of starting it beforehand is so that you don't get any symptoms and you continue to feel well throughout your season.” Learn more about pre-medicating here, so you can be ready to enjoy spring without constantly toting around tissues.
