Strep throat is a
bacterial infection caused by group A Streptococcus or “group A strep.”
In addition to a sore throat, symptoms can include pain when
swallowing, fever, red and swollen tonsils, tiny red spots on the roof
of the mouth, or swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck.

photomicrograph of a section of bone, which had been extracted from
the growth plate of a patient with rickets. The histopathologic
changes seen in this specimen, through the region of the epiphyseal
plate, suggested that this patient was in the middle stage of the
disease.
