WACO, Texas (KWTX) A new automated Baylor Scott & White
Pharmacy kiosk was unveiled Thursday to make prescription pickups more
convenient.
The kiosk allows patients to get prescriptions
filled and consult with a pharmacist privately by phone or video, 24-hours a
day.
“As we continue to increase access to quality
care throughout the state, it is important that we make it easier for patients
to follow their treatment plan,” said John McWhorter, COO, Baylor Scott &
White Health.
The kiosk is located at the Texas Farm Bureau
headquarters in Waco and is for employees only.
It’s the first-of-its-kind machine outside a
medical facility in Texas.
Prescriptions will be available at the kiosk
within hours of receiving a pharmacy receipt.
Healthcare officials hope the success of this
program will lead to more free-standing kiosks in the future.
