The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
Services (CMS) is excited to announce the availability of new data from the
Medicaid and CHIP Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System
(T-MSIS). To facilitate research, CMS is releasing detailed T-MSIS Analytic
Files (TAFs), as well as supplemental state-level data quality briefs and
technical documentation that further explain the data. Today’s release
includes data from the years 2014, 2015, and 2016. TAFs for 2017 and 2018 are
expected to be released in 2020.
All external researchers who want to obtain
access to the TAFs should contact the CMS Research Data Assistance Center
(ResDAC). Researchers who are approved for access to the TAFs will be
required to sign a CMS data use agreement that contains strict beneficiary
privacy and data security requirements. To learn more, visit the ResDAC website.
