Insurance Commissioner
The most
effective consumer protection is an informed consumer. That’s why we’re
excited about working with Univision stations to provide insurance tips
to their viewers. It’s part of a larger effort to expand our audience and
make sure more Texans understand their rights and how TDI can help them.
Our first Univision spot featured Eric Casas
from our Customer Operations Division. Eric is part of a group of TDI
employees who answered more than 400,000 calls last year, helping people
with insurance questions and complaints. Our Help Line, 1-800-252-3439,
is a great resource for Texas consumers. And if you’re wondering about
the hold times, I’ve got good news: The average is less than a minute.
We’re also
running a campaign over the next month to help people shopping for health
insurance during the HealthCare.gov open enrollment period. Texans who
search Google for lower cost options may see information from TDI that will help them
make a good decision. And we launched a new website, TexasHealthPlanCompare.com,
that allows users to view side-by-side comparisons of Texas health
plans. It includes cost and coverage information.
If you follow
us on social media, you know we produce videos and features with insurance tips. We hope
this information is helpful. Do you have an idea for a topic we should
cover? Send it to us at commissioner@tdi.texas.gov.
