The Department of State Health Services is increasing the cost to $60.58 effective January 1, 2020. A new state law requires commercial health benefit plans to cover “the cost of a newborn screening test kit in the amount provided by the Department of State Health Services.” Health plans subject to the new law are asked to notify TDI at LifeHealth@tdi.texas.gov if they do not intend to modify provider reimbursements to reflect this new cost.
