Being a "night owl" was genetic

Why it matters: "Sleep phase disorder" is a common syndrome that keeps people up late at night and makes it difficult for them to wake in the morning. Researchers say being a "night owl" is likely the result of a genetic mutation that throws off the biological clock that maintains the body's daily rhythms.
