Forging 70 Years of Discovery

Timeline - History & Future Scientists

The Cancer Research Institute (CRI) was founded on January 27, 1953, by Helen Coley Nauts and Oliver R. Grace Sr. These two individuals were bound by the belief that, together, they could end cancer’s devastation. Their legacy is an organization that birthed an entire field of cancer research — the field of tumor immunology — that is extending and saving the lives of cancer patients today.
