Clinic opens food pharmacy to meet patient needs
A study in the Annals of Family Medicine describes how a family
practice clinic in North Carolina used a screening tool to determine patients
with food insecurity and then referred them to an in-clinic food pharmacy for
help. Researcher Brisa Urquieta de Hernandez said clinics operating food
pharmacies must ensure they can screen patients and provide food assistance
safely and suggested having bags of pre-packed food ready so patients screened
during virtual visits can do curbside pickups.
