Breakthrough COVID-19 infections boosted immunity
Why it matters: Breakthrough infections after being vaccinated
against COVID-19 are usually mild and boost immunity as well as a booster shot,
researchers found. Immunity from natural infection after vaccination does not
appear to be subject to the age-related drop seen with booster vaccines, said
study leader Marcel Curlin, adding, "if you've been vaccinated already and
you get a breakthrough infection from one of these variants, you'll be in a
better category that would protect you from future severe disease."
