When
AJ
became deathly ill four years ago, it was a race to even
keep him alive long enough to diagnose his leukemia. As her
son faced challenge after challenge, Katrina fought every
step of the way to get him the treatment he deserved and
support they both needed. Now in remission, AJ still faces
tough times ahead as he prepares for reconstructive plastic
surgeries from his leukemia, but his twinkling eyes and
bright smile tell his story—he’s a survivor and is ready to
look to the future.
Though 40 percent of
pediatric cancers are blood cancers, only five percent of
oncology drugs have been approved for first-time use in
children. We can—and will—do more.

last year’s giving by donors who give now, up to a total
of $25,000. All gifts must be
received by Sept. 30, 2022, to be eligible for the
match.
