Health literacy has implications for Medicare
outcomes
Medicare recipients with high health-literacy levels were more
likely to receive preventive care such as flu shots and visited the hospital
less than those at a lower health-literacy level, according to a research
report. Researchers said health insurance providers and health care
professionals should receive health literacy training to improve communication
with Medicare recipients.
