Virtual hospital model for COVID-19 shows good
outcomes
Data from a hospital-at-home telemedicine program involving 1,477
patients with COVID-19 pneumonia showed 40 needed hospitalization, eight
required ventilation and two died, researchers reported in the Annals of
Internal Medicine. The program had a virtual observation unit that included one
phone call from a nurse each day and a virtual acute care unit that included
monitoring at least three times daily with access to a provider on-call.
