Biden signs order reopening ACA enrollment
On Thursday, President Joe Biden signed an executive order
directing the HHS to open a special enrollment period for Affordable Care Act
coverage, allowing uninsured Americans to sign up through HealthCare.gov from
Feb. 15 to May 15. The order also instructs federal agencies to reconsider
rules and policies that restrict health care access, particularly Trump
administration rules that make it difficult to qualify for Medicaid and the
ACA. AHIP President and CEO Matt Eyles praised the move, saying, "Health insurance
providers stand ready to implement the guidance that will follow this executive
order."
