Fewer people were hospitalized for a heart attack in the early
weeks of the coronavirus pandemic, and older patients were less likely to go to
the hospital, probably because of coronavirus fears, according to a study
published in JAMA
Cardiology. Patients with an ST-elevation myocardial infarction had
a more than twofold greater chance of dying during the latter part of the study
period, researchers wrote.
