Near-retirees may lack sufficient retirement funds


A report released by Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee of Congress showed workers ages 65 and older have been more affected than younger workers by unemployment during the novel coronavirus pandemic, and one-third of adults ages 55 to 64 don't have a pension or other employer-sponsored retirement savings plan. Matt Rutledge at the Center for Retirement Research says adults who need to catch up on their retirement savings can invest in an individual retirement account or save through a spouse's 401(k) plan.
