A telehealth platform with clinical decision support reduced inappropriate
prescriptions of antibiotics for children with bronchitis, pharyngitis,
sinusitis and upper respiratory tract infections in a study published in the
Journal of General Internal Medicine. Inappropriate prescribing fell among all
pediatricians in the study after receiving education about appropriate
antibiotic prescribing, but the decline was more pronounced in the cohort that
also had access to data on their own prescribing statistics and practicewide
statistics.
