Research shows older workers face ageism in hiring, and Gordon
Dahl, professor of economics at the University of California at San Diego, says
data show for every 1 percentage point increase in unemployment, the interview
callback rate for an older woman decreases by 14%, compared with a younger
person. Studies suggest some ways to fight ageism in hiring are to look for
public sector rather than private sector jobs, include dates on a resume, and
keep resume and interview themes active.
