US reports decline in new COVID-19 cases, deaths


The US recorded over 376,000 COVID-19 cases and 7,200 COVID-19 deaths for the week ended Aug. 9, marking the first decline in the death toll after four consecutive weeks of increase, according to an analysis of state and county data. The country's COVID-19 cases have now fallen for three consecutive weeks, but the US still accounts for about 25% of global COVID-19 cases, which have now reached 20 million.
