Eight US states -- Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida,
Illinois, Texas, New Jersey and New York -- said they will continue offering
COVID-19 tests to asymptomatic people who have had contact with infected
individuals, after guidance released by the CDC said tests might not be
needed in that scenario. CDC Director Robert Redfield responded to criticism
over the revised guidance, saying the change was intended to emphasize
testing for those who need it most.
