About a week after county officials said
they had 'no confidence' in the state'

State health officials are working to clear a
backlog of reported COVID-19 cases in Collin County, almost a week after county commissioners said they had “no confidence” in
the accuracy of the data provided by the Texas Department of State Health
Services.
County Judge Chris Hill said in a post on
Facebook that “a dozen case investigators” would make up a Collin County Work
Group launched Tuesday and tasked with correcting local coronavirus reports.
“[Department of State Health Services] officials
had previously agreed to redirect resources to correct the data issues, and I’m
truly grateful for their follow through,” he said.
County commissioners also agreed Monday to
soften the language of the disclaimer on Collin County’s online COVID-19 dashboard, which cast doubt on the
state’s data in no uncertain terms.
The new “notice,” previously labeled as a
“warning,” changes Collin County’s “no confidence” into a lack of confidence,
and includes the update that state health officials are evaluating the
“significantly overstated” case count for Collin County, “but have not provided
a timeline on when their reports will be corrected.”
