Older adults often are left out of the discussion about the
economic impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic because it is assumed people
who are not working aren't affected, says Jan Mutchler, director of the Center
for Social and Demographic Research on Aging at the University of Massachusetts
Boston's Gerontology Institute. A study by the institute estimated 28% of
people in Massachusetts age 60 or older expect to lose income by the end of
this summer.
