A study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found
prophylactic and therapeutic anticoagulation were linked to lower odds of
intubation and mortality among hospitalized, seriously ill COVID-19 patients.
The retrospective study of more than 4,300 patients at five hospitals found
those who received anticoagulants had a 30% lower risk of needing a ventilator
and up to 50% reduced odds of dying from COVID-19, but experts said more robust
studies are needed.
