Anticoagulants linked to lower COVID-19 death risk


A study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found prophylactic and therapeutic anticoagulation were linked to lower odds of intubation and mortality among hospitalized, seriously ill COVID-19 patients. The retrospective study of more than 4,300 patients at five hospitals found those who received anticoagulants had a 30% lower risk of needing a ventilator and up to 50% reduced odds of dying from COVID-19, but experts said more robust studies are needed.
