The HHS Healthy People 2030 initiative, designed to address
critical US public health issues over the next decade, calls for reducing
coronary heart disease fatalities from 90.9 to 71.1 per 100,000 people.
Objectives also include reducing new diabetes cases from 6.5 to 5.6 per 1,000
adults annually and increasing the focus on social determinants of health -- a
new target for the program.
